The heritage of the brewery

Keinzley Brewery (KB) is owned by Grant and his wife Christina. Together they represent four cultures; Scotland, Ireland, England and Aotearoa NZ.

About Lord and Lady Keinzley

Grant's mum came from a strong Scottish heritage and owned land in Glencoe Scotland so she held the title Laird (in english "Lady") of Glencoe.

Upon her passing Grant and Christina inherited that land and its associated titles enabling Grant and Christina to be known as Lord and Lady Keinzley.

About Grant & Christina

Both Grant and Christina are NZ born, Grant Auckland, Christina Patea South Taranaki.

Grant being from Auckland realised that there was more to New Zealand than just what was available in Auckland so he traveled NZ for abit and while travelling met Christina.

Christina a local maori born in Patea South Taranaki grew up with the infamous Patea Maori Club and like most people from Patea she loves to sing.

Together they bring both experience and culture to the brewery and its drinks.

About Pohutukawa Whiskey

KB's pohutukawa whiskeys have the finesse of a fine Scotch, the aromas of a good Irish whiskey, the homegrown aged flavours of the pohutukawa tree and they are delicious to drink.

KB started in Manaia of all places?

“Haha...yeah. Me and Christina were looking for somewhere suitable to start the brewery and Manaia was the perfect place.

Today however KB is proudly situated in Waverley just south of Manaia due to needing a larger building.”

— Lord Grant of KB.

Why the cat on the connoiseur's whiskey label?

“Sometime back we adopted a cat that needed a lot of TLC. As he got stronger he made the brewery his home and came to be known as brewery cat but I still call him Tiggers.
Because he made the brewery his home we decided to feature him on those bottles.”

— Lady Christina of KB.
